The history of ServerDirect

Early 90s

In the early 90s, Fouad and Siu-Hong, long-time friends since high school, began their journey together. But as life would have it, they parted ways after graduation. Siu-Hong delved into the technical realm while Fouad ventured into the world of commerce.

Fast forward to the early 2000s, and fate decided to play matchmaker. Like a scene out of a movie, they bumped into each other at the gym, reigniting the spark of their friendship. This chance encounter paved the way for a new adventure as they discovered their mutual passion for work.

Their paths converged professionally in 2003 at AOpen Computer BV, marking the beginning of an epic journey. They danced through different companies like Canyon Technology BV in 2005 and finally settled at Rackserver BV in 2007.

But the entrepreneurial bug bit them hard in 2010, leading to the birth of their first startup, nFaxxion. Though it had its share of challenges and hiccups, they emerged stronger and wiser. And thus, in the same year, ServerDirect was born, a phoenix rising from the ashes of past mistakes.

The years flew by, and by 2011, they bid adieu to their home office and set sail for their first official workspace in Rotterdam. But as their dreams outgrew their humble beginnings, they found themselves in need of more space.

In 2013, a stroke of luck led them to a generous offer from a client, granting them access to more workspace and office perks. The same year marked a significant milestone with their first major order of over 100 servers.

ServerDirect's growth trajectory knew no bounds. By 2014, they were busting at the seams, prompting a move to a larger office in Zoetermeer and beefing up their transport fleet.

In 2015, they proudly wore the crown of leading server supplier to esteemed financial trading companies in the Benelux region. The cherry on top? Becoming a "Direct" partner of Supermicro and collaborating with industry giants like Toshiba, Western Digital, and Intel.

But 2017 was the year of reckoning. ServerDirect shattered records by delivering over 10,000 servers, a testament to their unwavering commitment and relentless pursuit of excellence.

By 2018, they had ascended to the throne as market leaders in the Benelux region, renowned for their custom-made server solutions.

2020 marked a global conquest as ServerDirect spread its wings, delivering servers to over 30 countries and serving a diverse clientele ranging from government bodies to healthcare institutions and everything in between.

In 2021, they donned the cape of storage specialists, tripling their storage customer portfolio and navigating through market scarcity with ease. Additionally, ServerDirect was honored with the "Excellent Performance Award Europe 2021" by industry giant Toshiba for the second consecutive year. This prestigious award was in recognition of achieving the best sales results in Europe, a testament to their relentless pursuit of excellence and a milestone they are immensely proud of.

New Headquarters

By 2023, they had outgrown offices and decided to plant roots in their very own building, custom-renovated to cater to their every need. The new headquarters boasted cutting-edge features, including a state-of-the-art assembly line, meticulously designed to streamline the server production process and meet the growing demand for its products with unparalleled efficiency and precision.

ServerDirect's strategic partnerships with renowned component manufacturers such as Toshiba, Western Digital, Seagate, Intel, AMD, Kingston, Asus, AIC, Gigabyte, Chenbro, Micron, Solidigm, HP, DELL, and Huawei further solidified its position as a leader in the industry. These collaborations enabled ServerDirect to offer a diverse range of hardware server solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of its customers, ensuring unparalleled value for money.

By 2024, ServerDirect had expanded its horizons yet again, delving into software solutions for storage servers and cementing its status as the undisputed market leader in Europe. With hardware as their core business and an unwavering commitment to innovation, ServerDirect was poised to continue shaping the future of server solutions.
